Foundation for Development Organization (FODEO) is implementing the Boresha Kilimo project in three wards of Busega district which is funded by The Foundation for Civil Society (FCS). Aims to improve agricultural service delivery; enhance smallholder farmers' participation in agricultural plans and budgeting process; increase allocation budget and transparency and accountability in the use of public resources in agricultural sectors. Planned to be achieved by implementing integrated agriculture plans that are well-coordinated to ensure that burdens related to agriculture issues are lessened, sustained, developed and managed to improve productivity.
Project empowers smallholder farmers through a social accountability monitoring approach to enhance beneficiaries' demand for agriculture service improvement. This program involves Social Accountability Monitoring - SAM team activities for community mobilization and sustainable agricultural production. Sustainable agriculture management and development requires beneficiaries to participate in well-coordinated integrated agriculture plans. During implementation, various agricultural stakeholders included district level and Local Government Authority, councilors, agricultural input sellers, agricultural product buyers and the cotton board. The engagement of different stakeholder groups aimed to bring together different decision makers to change perceptions. Will be done through improvement of service delivery and an increase in the budget to support extension services.
